With your wedding right around the corner, a romantic honeymoon to somewhere warm is most likely on your mind. However, there are some very nice winter wonderland honeymoon ideas as well. To help with the last minute plans for your winter wedding here are some honeymoon hotspots.
Tahiti & Bora Bora
Two of the most desirable tropical locations located in one destination hotspot are Tahiti and Bora Bora. They are part of French Polynesia which is located in the Pacific Ocean south of the Hawaiian Islands. It takes over eight hours from California to fly there but the wait is truly worthwhile.
Many travel sites and travel agents offer packages for five or more nights in these two beautiful island oases with airfare included. There are many resorts that take online booking as well if you want to plan your own vacation. Be prepared to spend a nice amount of money on this honeymoon as these islands are far away and airfare is a large part of the budget.
Hawaii
As part of the United States you can save money on passports and airfare when traveling to the beautiful Hawaiian Islands. This honeymoon hotspot is the perfect location to enjoy your first days together as husband and wife. With gorgeous beaches to swim at and beautiful landscape to admire, Hawaii is truly a gem. There are plenty of fun water activities along with hiking, biking, sightseeing and relaxation.
There are many flights daily to Hawaii that leave from the west coast states along with some inland states. While the airfare can be inexpensive throughout non-holiday seasons the cost of hotel and food is quite pricey. Look for vacation packages with airfare included if you want to see several of the islands on your honeymoon. That will save you money and the headache of arranging all the flights and hotels.
Lake Tahoe
With winter weather already here there are plenty of beautiful mountains to ski in different parts of the United States. One of the honeymoon hotspots when it comes to skiing is Lake Tahoe. There are seven ski resorts to choose from and lots of trails to experience. Spending time at one of these resorts is the perfect winter honeymoon.
With plenty to do throughout the day when it comes to winter sports, you can cuddle up and relax by the fire or soak in the hot tub in the evening together. This sets the mood for the perfect honeymoon with plenty of quality time together.
Colorado
Scattered with over twenty beautiful ski resorts, Colorado is a hotspot for winter honeymoons with outdoor activities. Whether you or your fiancé are beginners it is never too late to learn the basics of skiing so you can get out and enjoy the beauty of the mountains of Colorado.
Do not forget your cold weather gear as you will want it to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Make sure to give yourselves plenty of time to get to and from your destination as snow storms are consistent in Colorado and often delay flights. Also you will want to rent a four wheel drive vehicle to strap on the skis and make it up the passes.
Beach Bunny or Snow Bunny
Whether you and your fiancé categorize yourselves as beach bunnies or snow bunnies there is a great honeymoon for the both of you to enjoy. As long as you both agree then there should not be much difficulty in deciding on where to go.
If you love the beach then you can also try Fiji, Bali or Jamaica if you have already been to Hawaii and Tahiti. Also if you love the snow then traveling to Europe or Asia for some overseas skiing would be another option.
No matter where you decide to travel this winter for your honeymoon be sure to allow for weather to get in the way of your travels and be prepared for layovers that last too long. The winter is the most difficult time of year to travel due to weather so be prepared. Good luck planning your honeymoon and hopefully one of the hotspots listed above sound like a wonderful destination to you and your fiancé.
