One of the most beautiful places to relax on the beach is in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on the island of Kauai. This the furthest island from the mainland that you can fly to and visit if you do not have a passport. For a honeymoon you will never forget, make plans to travel to this beautiful oasis. Here are some tips for planning your honeymoon to the Garden Island.
Travel Arrangements
In order to reach the beautiful island of Kauai you have to take at least one five or six hour flight depending on the jet stream. There are great deals on roundtrip non-stop flights out of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle.
If you live far away from the west coast you may want to look into specials out of your airport to any of those destinations. Sometimes the price will be less expensive if you book two separate itineraries.
Accommodations
There are plenty of beautiful hotels in Kauai that offer exquisite views of the ocean and many great amenities. However if you do not want to eat every meal out and would like more of a homey feeling there are great condos and houses you can rent for a week or long weekend. This may end up being a better price due to the cost of eating out.
Eating Out and At Home
There are plenty of cute restaurants all over the island that offer a variety of foods. Since Kauai is an island with warm waters there are different types of fish available on the menu. Also most of their meat comes from the mainland.
However, due to the year-round growing season you can get your hands on lots of delicious fresh fruits and vegetables any time you visit. You can shop for food at natural food stores, normal grocery stores and farmers markets to support the local farmers.
Beach Days
The beaches are where you may find yourself spending most of the honeymoon. Whether you want to go snorkeling at the coral reefs or ride the waves on a surfboard, there are beaches for most activities on the island.
Many of the houses or condos you rent have snorkel gear ready for you to use as well which eliminates you having to bring your own or buy some at the store.
River Tours
A great way to see part of Kauai’s beauty is through kayak tours on the Waialua River. There is a wonderful family company called Waialua Kayak Adventures. They take phone reservations year round for guided tours and kayak rentals.
The two person kayaks are great for tying on top of your rental car and paddling up to some of the most beautiful secluded places in Kauai. This is defiantly a romantic day trip for the both of you.
Hiking to Waterfalls
There are many gorgeous hiking trails in Kauai for those of you who love getting out into the mud and seeing a piece of paradise from another dimension. The Kalalau trail is one of the most beautiful hikes that you can attempt in Kauai. There are waterfalls, beaches and lots of wildlife along the way.
If you purchase a hiking trail map of Kauai it will show you some of the other hikes around the island, but Kalalau is by far one of the most beautiful. With the volcanoes extinct on Kauai don’t be afraid to attempt a hike on one of them too.
Destination Paradise
With any honeymoon you want to be able to afford it as well as enjoy each other. Kauai is one of the most beautiful places in the United States and has so much to offer. If you choose to plan your honeymoon to Kauai the scenery alone will not let you down. Good luck with your wedding and enjoy planning the honeymoon.
